The experience of the refugee is often one of paralysis – unable to look back, yet simultaneously stalled from moving forward. As the homes of many in Syria are caught in the crossfire of civil war, Europe has witnessed the largest influx of refugees since World War II, with the need far outweighing the responses.

The Hart House Debates Committee, the Canadian Centre for the Responsibility to Protect, and the U of T Refugee Alliance have coordinated a panel discussion to: explore the impetus behind this mass migration, discuss the human and global impacts, and consider policy decisions that Canada and the international community can pursue to improve the prognoses for refugees and their families.

The ISIL has claimed responsibility for the horrific terrorist attacks in Paris last Friday which claimed the lives of at least 129 people and wounded over 300 civilians. 

On Friday, Nov 20, 2015 at the Munk School of Global Affairs, please join us for a panel discussion on “Understanding the ISIL & Confronting Non-State Terrorism,”  featuring following speakers.  The roundtable will take place from 12pm to 2pm in Room 208N of the Munk School of Global Affairs, 1 Devonshire Place, University of Toronto.
