“R2P at Crossroads: Ten Years since the 2005 World Summit”

The Canadian Centre for R2P is delighted to announce our new campaign called “R2P at Crossroads: Ten Years since the 2005 World Summit.” This campaign seeks to critically examine the normative journey of R2P in the last decade since its articulation in paragraphs 138 and 139 of the World Summit Outcome, with an eye towards future political implementation. From January to April 2015, the CCR2P will be engaging in an extensive campaign across Canada to foster dialogue and debate on the relevance and applicability of the R2P principle in our troubled world today.

Components of our campaign include: 1) a full day conference in conjunction with the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto; 2) R2P film festival; 3) Student Debate on R2P; 4) Youth & Education Outreach; 5) R2P Walk-a-Thon; 6) Publication Series with CIC’s Opencanada.org; 7) Social media campaign.

We’re currently recruiting for new talents and minds interested in undertaking our ambitious project. Please see the CCR2P Advocacy Positions and APPLICATION FORM FOR ADVOCACY TEAM for more details.

We’ll be posting more detailed proposal for each component of the campaign later this fall, so please stay tuned!
