 ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE CANADIAN CENTRE FOR R2P

We are delighted to announce the opening of applications for the CCR2P'S Editorial board. This board will exist as a centralized body for editing the research reports and educational media that CCR2P produces -- and represents an excellent opportunity for bolstering your research and writing skills. Additionally, editorial board members will have the opportunity to edit submissions to the triennial Canadian Journal on R2P, which will be accepting submissions starting this summer. Members of the editorial board will be credited on the research reports and educational media that they edit.

1: Editor-In-Chief (5-7 hours per week)

Reporting to and collaborating with the Directors of Research and Deputy Executive Director, the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for: (1) overseeing and directing the work of the Lead Editors; (2) ensuring that the edited content meets the CCR2P’s stylistic conventions (a process that includes making direct stylistic edits where applicable);(3) convening regular meetings with Lead Editors.(4) convening monthly division-wide meetings; and (5) collaborating with the Deputy Executive Director and Directors of Research to produce an 'edit plan' for each of the reports to be edited -- which will articulate all substantive, stylistic, and formatting-related edits to be made. Previous leadership experience in an editorial capacity will be an asset. 

2: Lead Editors (4-6 hours per week) 

Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief, Lead Editors are responsible for: (1) overseeing and directing the work of their team of team of editors;(2) implementing edits required by each ‘edit plan’ assigned to them; (3) convening regular meetings with editors to assign work and track progress; and (4) performing additional research, fact-checking their assigned reports, and making substantive edits (including section additions, etc.) as required. 

3: Editors (3-5 hours per week) 

Reporting to their Lead Editor, editors are responsible for (1) implementing edits as directed by their Lead Editor;(2) performing additional research as directed by their Lead Editor; (3) attending meetings at the direction of their supervising Lead Editor; and (4) screen sections for proper word choice and grammar. 

4: Design Editor (4-6 hours per week)

Collaborating with the Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Executive Director, and directors of research, the Creative Lead will create all design elements necessary for the publication of CCR2P’s reports, media, and journal. Previous experience with creative design is necessary, and applicants must submit a portfolio of previous work when applying. 

5: Administrative Coordinator  (3-5 hours per week)

Collaborating with the Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Executive Director, and directors of research, the Administrative Lead will address all administrative considerations incidental to the work of the publications board. Duties will include (1) liaising with teams from CCR2P’s research, communications, and R2P Live divisions; (2) tracking timesheets and reports from editors and lead editors; (3) coordinating communications within the publications board team; (4) managing communications with submitting authors; (5) distributing submissions among the publications board team. 


ELIGIBILITY:

·  Any undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at the University of Toronto or other major universities — or recent alumni from any major universities;

·  A demonstrated passion and interest for the study and advocacy of R2P principle;

·  Able to commit to June 18 - August 31, 2021

·  Previous involvement in the CCR2P’s research or advocacy divisions will be an asset. We welcome applications from candidates with language skills and background in IR/Peace & Conflict/political science/history/public policy/law.

PLEASE NOTE: All applications will be considered on a rolling basis but only the successful candidates will be contacted. Our summer internship positions are volunteer positions but there will be full training provided for selected candidates.A certificate of recognition will be issued upon successful completion, with special consideration for board positions in the 2021-2022 school year.
