tinaMs. Tina Jiwon Park, Co-Founder & Executive Director 

Tina is a Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Canadian Centre for R2P and oversees various strategic and operational aspects of the Centre. In 2012, Tina has advised the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) at the 127th Assembly in Quebec City with Dr. Edward Luck, the former UN Secretary-General’s Representative on R2P. She further assisted the IPU at the 128th Assembly in Quito, Ecuador, in the spring of 2013 for the adoption of R2P Resolution entitled “The Role of Parliamentarians in Enforcing R2P.” Tina has presented at the Nexus Convening in Istanbul, Turkey on the role of parliamentarians in promoting R2P and on mobilizing students for human rights advocacy, as well as at the Commons Institute’s Continuing Legal Education program for the intersection between R2P & international humanitarian law. Tina has participated in the civil society consultative process for the the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon’s Report on Responsibility to Protect since 2013 and has participated at the UN General Assembly on R2P in 2013 and 2014. Tina is a frequent commentator on R2P-related issues and has travelled to Barcelona, Vienna, New York, Seoul, as well as the House of Commons in Ottawa to advocate for the implementation of R2P in national and regional foreign policy. In the past, Tina has worked as a simultaneous interpreter and translator for Korean, French, and Spanish, including at the G20 Seoul Summit. An award-winning scholar, Tina is currently writing her Ph.D. dissertation at the Department of History, University of Toronto, on a hundred years of evolving history between Canada and Korea, with a special focus on trade and immigration. Tina has served as a Junior Fellow at Massey College (2010-2014) and on the Planning/Budget Committee and Academic Board of the Governing Council of the University of Toronto. Victor MacDiarmidMr. Victor MacDiarmid, Co-Founder & Managing Director

Victor is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of the Canadian Centre for R2P. He is currently pursuing a J.D. at the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto. He was formerly employed as a consultant for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada and received his Master’s degree in the History of International Relations from the University of Toronto.  Victor has an Honours B.A. with high distinction in international relations from the University of Toronto. Prior to working with the CCR2P, Victor worked with the U of T chapter of UNICEF, monitored human rights abuses in the West Bank with the ISM and served on the Executive Board of the University of Toronto Ski Club. Victor oversees human resources and strategic planning at the CCR2P and has co-authored a publication with Dr. Jennifer Welsh, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Responsibility to Protect. Victor has contributed to the UN Secretary-General’s Report on R2P since 2013 and has attended the U.N. General Assembly on R2P in September 2014. Victor is currently writing on a book chapter on the role of private sector in promoting R2P for the One Earth Foundation’s publication project with the Cambridge University Press, to be released in 2015. Victor’s passion for human rights advocacy has been greatly shaped by his extensive travels in South America and the Middle East. Victor speaks French and Spanish and enjoys athletic activities in his free time.
